Tourism revenue in the first 7 months of the year reached 23,853 billion VND

In July and the first 7 months of 2024, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) continued to promote consumer and tourism stimulus with the participation of many units in the retail and accommodation sectors, in which many essential products and goods were deeply discounted, ensuring quality and design, attracting people to participate in shopping.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in July 2024 is estimated at VND 102,806 billion, up 4.3% over the previous month and 10.6% over the same period. In the first 7 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 661,521 billion, up 10.3% over the same period.

The retail sales of goods and consumer services by specific sectors are as follows: Retail sales of goods in July 2024 are estimated at VND 48,487 billion, accounting for 47.2% of total retail sales of goods and consumer services, up 4.6% over the previous month and up 13.0% over the same period. Most commodity groups increased over the same period, in which commodity groups with high growth rates such as food and foodstuffs increased by 16.5%; automobiles of all kinds increased by 42.2%; automobile, motorcycle, motorbike and other motor vehicle repair group increased by 19.3% and other commodity groups increased by 20.5%.

In the first 7 months of 2024, retail sales of goods are estimated at VND 315,927 billion, up 10.5% over the same period. In particular, some groups of goods with large proportions have increased such as food and foodstuffs accounting for 31.3%, up 10.6% over the same period; household appliances, tools and equipment accounting for 23.9%, up 13.2%; other goods accounting for 9.6%, up 13.9%; precious stones, precious metals and products accounting for 8.5%, up 25.1%.

Revenue from accommodation and catering services in July 2024 is estimated at VND 12,028 billion, accounting for 11.7% of total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue, up 5.0% over the previous month and 8.7% over the same period. Of which, accommodation revenue increased by 1.0% over the previous month and 5.0% over the same period; catering service revenue increased by 5.5% over the previous month and 9.1% over the same period.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the estimated revenue from accommodation and catering services reached VND 74,888 billion, up 8.7% over the same period. Of which, accommodation increased by 35.4% and catering services increased by 5.5%.

Tourism services in July 2024 are estimated at VND4,424 billion, up 3.0% over the previous month and up 62.4% over the same period. During the month, the City implemented many coordination programs between travel agencies, airlines and accommodation units to bring preferential price policies to tourists. In the first 7 months of 2024, tourism service revenue is estimated at VND23,853 billion, up 65.7% over the same period.

Revenue from other services in July 2024 is estimated at VND 37,867 billion, up 4.0% over the previous month and 4.6% over the same period. In the first 7 months of 2024, revenue from other services is estimated at VND 246,853 billion, up 7.1%. Of which, revenue from real estate business is estimated at VND 148,251 billion, accounting for 60.1% of revenue from other services, up 6.1% over the same period; administrative and support services increased by 9.3%; education and training increased by 9.1%; healthcare increased by 7.8%; arts, entertainment and recreation increased by 7.1%.
