Speaking at the meeting, MSc. Pham Duy Phuc - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication (University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City National University) shared: The press is a very important medium, however, the nature of press activities is currently facing challenges in the digital transformation period, which is the development trend of multi-platform press, the public has many channels to access information sources. The challenge for the press is to proactively reach the public on social networks and in digital space.

Along with the strong development of digital technology, digital platforms will risk affecting the core values of the journalism team. The source of information verified before being brought to the public is currently not rigorous and lacks assessment, threatening the public's trust in agencies and journalism teams.

From the concerns raised, Master Pham Duy Phuc proposed 3 recommendations that need to be implemented, which are: In today's era, there needs to be a change in the thinking of the entire system of agencies and departments from the central to local levels in handling information from social networking sites, proactively turning social networking into an information channel to propagate information sources of the Party and State. The training of press human resources needs to be consistent, in which attention should be paid to training to raise political awareness for journalists; in the context of digital transformation, training high-quality human resources requires investment in physical resources to perform this role well.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Propaganda Department, acknowledged the opinions of the delegates at the meeting. Assessing the training and human resources work, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged and agreed with the opinions of the delegates.

He affirmed that, along with journalism training institutions across the country, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City National University has been making efforts, constantly innovating and creating, deserving to be a center.   Training and fostering human resources for journalism, media, and prestigious scientific research facilities, contributing significantly to creating quality human resources, promoting the development, maturity, and stability of the press team not only in the Southern region but also across the country.

However, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department also said: In the reports of the School, of the units and the opinions expressed, it can be seen that journalism, publishing and training in journalism, publishing and communication need to be paid more attention in the new era, the digital era. In particular, the mettle and strength of the Vietnamese people must be fully demonstrated through theoretical training activities in the university system and social practice.

“Professionalism must meet the requirements of the times and international integration; proficiency must be conveyed to students and journalists; schools must promptly update the regulations and policies of the Party and State on issues of innovation in journalism” – Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia clearly stated.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that one of the three strategic breakthroughs in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress is to develop human resources, especially high-quality human resources, to create a strong, comprehensive, and fundamental change in the quality of education and training. Journalism and media are special and important fields that receive special attention and care from the Party and the State. In order for the press to fulfill its glorious revolutionary role and mission as the voice of the Party and the State, a trusted forum for the people, and a sharp ideological weapon of the Party and the State, taking care of training human resources for journalism and media plays a very important role, if not a decisive factor. Therefore, there must be a standard program framework that meets the requirements of political tasks, practical requirements, and is in line with modern trends so that we can have good human resources that are up to the task.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia said: Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is coordinating with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and press agencies to develop a training program framework and foster the press, publishing, and media team. On that basis, each training unit will base on specific conditions to carry out appropriate training; at the same time, implement a coordination mechanism with management agencies in carrying out training and teaching to enhance the practicality of the team of students majoring in journalism, publishing, etc.

In addition, management and training must be ensured; schools must be closely linked to practice, practice must be closely linked to training to create a team of information and propaganda workers who meet the requirements of providing accurate and timely information to the public; Training programs must ensure information content, closely linked to studying and following the example of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; take advantage of mechanisms and policies to invest in facilities and materials serving training, teaching and practice.../.
