Nowadays, universities usually arrange study time in 3 sessions, including 4-5 shifts. In the evening, many schools have different start and end times.
For example, the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) stipulates that a school day consists of two shifts, morning and afternoon. In addition, the evening class starts from 5:45 pm to 8:45 pm.
The Ho Chi Minh City branch of the University of Transport starts the school day at 7:00 a.m. The evening session is from 11:00 to 14:00 and ends at 21:40.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is currently applying 4 shifts a day from 7:00 to 17:25, in the evening from 18:00 to 21:45. According to the adjusted schedule expected to be put out for student feedback, the first period in the morning will be adjusted 30 minutes earlier at 6:30 and the evening shift is also expected to end 45 minutes earlier, at 21:00.
The University of Transport Technology also regulates class hours in 3 sessions. The first period in the morning starts at 6:45, the last period in the afternoon ends at 18:10. The evening session consists of 3 periods from 18:20 to 21:00.
In addition to morning and afternoon shifts, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry also arranges evening classes from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The school schedule at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance includes 5 shifts with 15 periods, in which the last shift of the day takes place in the evening from 6:15 pm and ends at 8:30 pm.
A school day at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology consists of 5 shifts from morning to evening. Shift 1 in the morning starts at 6:45, shift 4 in the afternoon ends at 17:20. The evening for shift 5 consists of 3 periods, lasting from 18:00 to 20:15.
Van Lang University also has 5 shifts including morning, afternoon and evening. Students' timetables will be based on this time frame, starting period 1 at 7:00 am and ending period 16 of the day at 9:10 pm.
The school day at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (VNU-HCMC) starts at 6:00 a.m. and ends at 10:10 p.m. However, the school does not regularly schedule classes for period 1 (6:00 a.m. - 6:45 a.m.) and period 17 (9:20 p.m. - 10:10 p.m.), these classes are reserved for special cases.

What kind of students are evening classes used for?
The purpose of evening classes also varies from school to school. Most universities say that evening classes are not for full-time students.
For example, the evening class at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is for work-study bridging classes, master's training programs, and some classes of the foreign language and information technology center.
Full-time students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also finish their classes at 5:30 p.m., with evenings reserved for service center classes and work-study classes.
Evening classes at the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) are also for non-regular students.
Similarly, full-time students of the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also end their school day at 4:30 p.m. (for 3-credit courses) and 5:45 p.m. (for a few 2-credit courses).
Meanwhile, some schools still open evening classes for full-time students who want to register, such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University)...
According to a university representative, with the current credit-based training method, universities open courses according to many different time frames. Students have the right to register for courses according to the time frame that suits their needs, including evening classes.
