Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, thanked ICOMOS experts for their valuable comments on Vietnam's nomination dossier. This is the result of the efforts of experts, scientists , authorities and communities of the three localities over the past 12 years, and expressed her hope that Yen Tu heritage will be recognized as a World Heritage Site at the 47th session of UNESCO in July in Paris, France. The recognition of the heritage will be an opportunity for the heritage to be preserved and have access to the best protection measures, and also an opportunity to promote the heritage widely around the world.
At the conference, the Vietnamese side also discussed with ICOMOS experts to provide information, clarify some issues raised in the dossier, the story of the heritage, the heritage conservation plan and respond to the recommendations of ICOMOS experts related to the heritage and build a roadmap to implement ICOMOS recommendations. Specifically, building a comprehensive archaeological map of the Yen Tu area, as a basis for in-depth research and supporting the promotion of the heritage domestically and internationally; improving existing security and safety measures, especially with the woodblock system; strengthening the heritage management plan, controlling activities that may affect the heritage.
It is expected that from June 10-15, the Vietnamese delegation will go to France to seek support from member countries of the World Heritage Committee for the Yen Tu dossier, before the 47th session of UNESCO takes place next July.
