German team worried about Toni Kroos

"I don't like using tape. However, the pain continued during training and got worse. For me to be able to play, 98% was thanks to painkillers. Tapes helped about 2%, but painkillers and treatment were the decisive factors in helping me no longer feel pain during the match," midfielder Toni Kroos shared before the Germany vs Hungary match, taking place at 11pm today, June 19.

Kroos played with a combination of tape and painkillers as Germany beat Scotland 5-1 in their opening match (early morning of June 14). The former Real Madrid midfielder played a near-perfect match, completing 101 out of 102 short passes and 8 successful long passes (100%).

Kroos decided to return to the German national team just before EURO 2024 and was welcomed by coach Julian Nagelsmann. He will hang up his boots after EURO 2024, although many teammates, fans and experts have convinced him to continue his football career when Kroos can play professionally for a few more years.

Back to Kroos' pain. After a successful season with Real Madrid, winning the LaLiga and Champions League double, the German midfielder showed signs of being overloaded. Thanks to painkillers, the brightest star of the German team played 80 minutes in the opening match. After "Die Mannschaft" quickly decided the match by leading 3-0 in the first half and playing with an extra man, coach Nagelsmann let some key players, including Kroos, rest.

Germany are currently top of Group A after a 5-1 win over Scotland, followed by Switzerland, who beat Hungary 3-1. If they beat Hungary at 11pm today, Germany will move closer to the round of 16.
