VTC NewsVTC News15/06/2023

The Vietnamese team entered the first official friendly match under coach Troussier against the Hong Kong team (China). The away team was considered a weak opponent, but in reality, the match on the field was not easy for the Vietnamese team. After the opening whistle, the home team quickly controlled the game on the field.

Que Ngoc Hai scored the opening goal.

The Vietnamese team had more possession time than their opponents. However, Hoang Duc and his teammates could not convert that advantage into dangerous opportunities. In the first half, the Vietnamese team did not create any notable moves towards the goal of the Hong Kong (China) team.

Even the defense of the Vietnamese team revealed many problems. The players did not play focused and often lost in direct confrontations with the opposing strikers.

Que Ngoc Hai scored for the Vietnam team.

In just 2 minutes, Wong Wai and Matthew had consecutive dangerous chances in the penalty area but the duo's shots were not dangerous enough. Duy Manh made a mistake while he was not decisive in blocking the opponent.

In the 29th minute, Matthew Orr had another chance when he dribbled fiercely into the Vietnamese penalty area, but the striker hit the crossbar. Three minutes later, the turning point of the match came. Defender Helio fouled Quang Hai in the penalty area and the referee decided to award a penalty to the Vietnamese team.

Captain Que Ngoc Hai had no trouble scoring the opening goal for Vietnam. However, this goal did not help Vietnam improve the game. In the 38th minute, Wong Wai had a dangerous free kick that hit the crossbar of Van Lam's goal.

In the second half, Coach Troussier made a series of substitutions when Tuan Tai, Hai Huy and Thanh Binh were brought onto the field. However, the first dangerous opportunity still belonged to the Hong Kong (China) team. In the 49th minute, Van Lam played without concentration, he did not jump to block the cross of a Hong Kong (China) player. The ball hit the crossbar for the third time and Van Hau had to work very hard to block it.

From the second half, the physical strength of the Hong Kong (China) team decreased, making it impossible for them to maintain dangerous counter-attacks. On the other side of the front line, Quang Hai had more space to play. The midfielder born in 1997 still maintained a different way of thinking about playing football, but his ball sense was not good.

The Vietnamese team had a few chances to score a second goal but Van Hau, Xuan Manh and Thanh Binh could not take advantage. However, coach Troussier still had a successful start with the first victory under the new reign.

Result: Vietnam Team 1-0 Hong Kong Team (China)
