Athletes participating in the 2024 Da Nang International Sea Rescue Competition are staff of Rescue Teams in coastal localities, resorts, hotels, volunteer teams operating in the field of coastal rescue and rescue at home and abroad, who have been trained in professional skills according to regulations.
In his opening speech, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, Tran Dai Nghia, said that 48 athletes participating in the 2024 Da Nang International Sea Rescue Competition came from 7 domestic teams (Nha Trang, Hue, Quang Nam, Da Nang) and 5 foreign teams (Australia, Myanmar, Philippines, Malaysia). They are staff of rescue teams in coastal localities, resorts, hotels, and volunteer teams operating in the field of domestic and foreign coastal rescue and rescue, who have been trained in professional skills according to regulations.
The competition consists of 5 parts: Relay Swimming, Rescue Board Swimming Relay, Capture the Flag, Rescue Board Swimming and Iron Man. The athletes participating in the competition uphold the sports spirit of "Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility - Progress" to achieve high results in the competition; say no to negative manifestations; strictly comply with the Regulations and regulations of the Organizing Committee at the Competition and commit to ensuring good health for the competition; have good skills in the field of rescue and are not affected by strong physical activities.

In addition, to ensure the safety of residents and tourists swimming at the city's beaches at the beginning of the peak tourist season, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches (MB) has increased 100% of the lifeguards on duty at key beaches and maintained patrols from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily in the summer. Maintain operations at 2 night beaches from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in the beach area north of Bien Dong Park and My An Night Beach area - where there are adequate lighting conditions, lifeguards on duty to ensure safety.
At the same time, deploy buoys in safe swimming areas; install more than 100 warning signs of various types such as: dangerous areas with offshore currents, warnings when the weather is bad, install advisory signs in areas without rescue forces on duty; propagate on the coastal loudspeaker system, website, fanpage of the Management Board, Da Nang City Electronic Information Portal, send official dispatches to schools in the city, coastal hotels to propagate recommendations on rescue duty time, beach regulations...
The athletes are skilled in rescue and give their all.
In addition, to be ready to welcome tourists, the Management Board has also focused on strengthening security and order, environmental sanitation, upgrading public service facilities and service activities at the beach, coordinating with units and businesses to organize many cultural, sports and tourism activities, all aimed at forming the Da Nang beach tourism brand "Safe - Civilized - Attractive" to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience.
The Management Board actively coordinates with coastal projects in rescue work, ensuring safety for tourists in areas before the project. Coordinates with hotels to provide information and instructions on safe swimming for tourists. Renovates lifeguard stations, equips additional rescue equipment such as canoes, lifeguard surfboards, safety limit buoy systems, etc. Regularly coordinates with experts from the Australian Lifeguard Association to organize skill exchange classes, learn from experiences to foster knowledge, improve professional expertise for Rescue Team members and drowning prevention skills for children.

In the relay swimming event: the Australian team won the first prize, the Philippines 1 team won the second prize; the rescue paddleboarding relay event: the Australian team won the first prize, the Saba (Malaysia) team won the second prize; the Languna Hue team won the first prize in the Capture the Flag event; the Australian team won the first prize, the Myanmar team won the second prize in the rescue paddleboarding event and the Ironman event: the Australian team won the first prize, the Myanmar team won the second prize.
