Speaking at the reception, comrade Le Quoc Minh congratulated Mr. Shimizu Akira, Chief Representative of JICA in Vietnam, on completing his term from March 2020 to March 2023.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh assessed that through monitoring JICA's projects during the Covid-19 pandemic and through Government meetings, it can be assessed that JICA's projects during Mr. Shimizu Akira's term were very successful.

Welcoming the new JICA Chief Representative Sugano Yuichi back to Vietnam after 20 years, comrade Le Quoc Minh also expressed his belief that with the existing foundation, JICA's projects under the new term of Mr. Sugano Yuichi (from April 2023) will continue to be successful.

The Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper shared that Vietnam is a country still in the development stage, facing many difficulties, so the support of JICA and Japan in general is very important to help the country develop sustainably in the coming time. In that context, the role of JICA is very important, the projects JICA implemented in localities nationwide with Vietnamese corporations, companies and partners have brought practical results. Comrade Le Quoc Minh emphasized, at the same time expressing his hope that such support will continue to be expanded to other fields, including the field of press and media.

According to Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh, the press and media play an important role in the context of many changes in technology, awareness and information reception behavior from readers. Therefore, the Vietnamese press has clearly recognized and has made changes, including promoting digital transformation.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh expressed his hope that in addition to the attention and support from the Party and State, more support from international organizations such as JICA is needed to continue development.

Besides, according to Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh, economic development investment and infrastructure projects are important, but training projects also play an equally important role.

Therefore, Vietnam hopes and welcomes Japan and JICA to provide additional support for human resource training projects, including in the field of journalism, to help grasp modern media technologies and promote a more modern and professional Vietnamese press in the current competitive context.

For his part, JICA Chief Representative in Vietnam, Mr. Shimizu Akira, said that during his 3-year term, JICA has always received support from Nhan Dan Newspaper and hopes to continue receiving support from the Newspaper in the new term of the new Chief Representative.

Mr. Shimizu Akira highly appreciated the recent launch of supplements by Nhan Dan Newspaper on six socio-economic regions, and informed that JICA had also signed agreements to implement ODA projects to support the development of economic regions in Vietnam, especially in infrastructure and human resource development.
