The old house is dilapidated and gets flooded every time it rains or the water rises. I am very happy to be awarded a Great Solidarity house by the Ward Front. My wife and I promise to work hard, improve our lives, and send our children to school,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Giau in Thoi Hoa Ward (O Mon District), moved when talking about the locality’s care and support for his family.

Mr. Nguyen Van Giau's family is one of the families that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thoi Hoa Ward supported to build a house, assisted in many ways, gradually escaped poverty, and improved their living standards. In 2024, Mr. Giau's family was considered for a Great Unity house worth 60 million VND. Mr. Giau confided: "The first night we moved into the new house, my wife and I were so happy we couldn't sleep. In addition to supporting the house construction, the ward and area officials also gave gifts to the family on holidays and Tet and gave gifts to my children when they started school. In 2024, my eldest son was admitted to university, and the local authorities also made a student loan application for him so that he could pursue his dream."

Ms. Vo Thuy Hang in Hoa Long area, Thoi Hoa ward, said: “After my husband and I separated, I raised 2 young children, and I am a near-poor household. The old house was dilapidated and had many leaks. Recently, the family has received support from the local authorities in many ways to stabilize their lives, such as support to build a Great Unity house and giving gifts for the children to go to school. Currently, I have been introduced to join a seasonal labor group, picking fruit for people in the ward, earning more than 200,000 VND/day.”

The situation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nuoi, residing in Hoa Long area, is also very difficult. Ms. Nuoi, 66 years old, is a near-poor, single household. A few years ago, her health was still good, Ms. Nuoi could buy and sell small items on the farm to make a living. Recently, her health has declined, so her business is unstable. The old house is dilapidated, leaks every time it rains, and there are no conditions to build a new house or repair it. In 2025, she was supported to build a Great Unity house to stabilize her housing. Ms. Nuoi happily said: “About a month ago, the government and the Ward Front organized a very solemn ceremony to hand over the Great Unity house to me. The officials sent me many congratulatory gifts, encouraging me to take care of my health and move forward in life.”

In 2024 and the first 5 months of 2025, from social mobilization sources and support from superiors, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thoi Hoa Ward built 20 new Great Unity and Love houses with a total amount of more than 1.3 billion VND. At the same time, coordinated to mobilize and give more than 2,400 gifts to poor and near-poor households on the occasion of Lunar New Year, with a total value of over 720 million VND. The ward's socio -political organizations managed 14 loan groups from the Social Policy Bank to help 738 households borrow preferential loans to develop the economy; at the same time, built many effective economic models to help union members, members and people increase their income and improve their lives.

Previously, Ms. Mai Ngoc Trinh's family's economy in Hoa An area faced many difficulties. Her family cultivated 3 hectares of rice fields, with little profit; her children were of school age. Ms. Ngoc Trinh shared: "I received support from the local authorities to apply for a loan, change my production model from farming to growing red-fleshed jackfruit and open a breakfast shop at home. Thanks to trading, I have the conditions to take care of my family's economy and send my children to university. Currently, the family's economy is stable. This year, the jackfruit garden has just produced fruit."

Practical support solutions implemented by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thoi Hoa Ward and its member organizations have contributed to helping people stabilize their lives, rise up and gradually escape poverty sustainably. According to Mr. Le Thien Tam, Head of the Mass Mobilization Block, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, at the beginning of 2024, the ward still had 4 poor households. Thanks to practical support forms and efforts of the families to rise up, by the end of 2024, all 4 households had escaped poverty. Currently, the locality has no more poor households. In the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward will continue to negotiate with member organizations to assign sponsorship and support for near-poor households to rise up through support for house building, support for business loans, job introductions, etc. At the same time, build and improve the quality of effective models, attract union members, association members, and people to participate, contributing to increasing income and improving living standards".
