In the context of the global digital transformation, Vietnam's banking industry has emerged as one of the leading sectors in terms of digitalization. The application of modern technology, the development of online services and cashless payments have created a major change in people's transaction habits, while contributing to promoting financial inclusion.
Thanks to that, digital banking not only brings convenience to customers but also opens up new development space for the digital economy .
These efforts have yielded clear results. According to the State Bank, nearly 87% of Vietnamese adults now have bank accounts, and the value of cashless payments is 25 times the GDP. Most basic banking services have been performed on digital channels, many banks have achieved a rate of about 95% of transactions via digital platforms. Some operations have been completely digitized such as opening and using accounts, savings deposits, opening bank cards, e-wallets, money transfers or online loans.
A digital ecosystem and digital payments have been established, connecting banking services with many other sectors in the economy to bring seamless experiences to customers. In addition, the State Bank has built a data warehouse with nearly 32 billion data lines from more than 1,470 units, and stored credit information of over 54 million borrowers.
In order to bring multi-dimensional perspectives and suggest feasible solutions for digital banking to become a driving force for sustainable growth, accompanying the Vietnamese economy in the digital age, Dan Tri newspaper, with the support of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade ( VietinBank ), organized a discussion "Digital banking in the new era - Driving force for sustainable growth".
