As reported by Dong Nai Newspaper, on April 16, the patient had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius, headache, and nausea, so his family took him to Thong Nhat General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Previously, the patient was admitted to the hospital with a high fever, fatigue, dry lips, and dirty tongue. The patient had a medical history of chronic hepatitis B and diabetes. The patient had not been vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis. Test results showed that the patient was positive for group B meningococcal bacteria.
Meningococcal meningitis is a dangerous, rapidly progressing acute bacterial infection. The disease causes serious damage to the meninges and central nervous system and can directly threaten the patient's life if not detected and treated promptly. The disease often occurs suddenly with a series of symptoms such as severe headache, fever, nausea and vomiting, stiff neck, red, purple or dark brown rash.
