On March 3, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province requested departments and Vinh Cuu district to clarify signs of irregularities in the use of 24 hectares of land on O island and Dong Truong island.

These are two islands close to each other in the middle of Tri An Lake, about 4-5km from the shore with many tourist activities, camping, and resorts (O Island - Dong Truong tourist area).

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province requested the functional forces to review and handle issues related to land, construction, business services, financial obligations, taxes and some other related issues for these two islands.

Previously, in 2000, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee assigned the O - Dong Truong island tourist area to Dong Nai Tourism Company to manage and develop eco-tourism.

But the business operation is not effective.

In early 2017, Dong Nai Tourism Joint Stock Company and Cuong Thuan IDICO Development Investment Joint Stock Company signed a contract to transfer assets on land in this tourist area.

After that, Cuong Thuan IDICO Company invested in building many projects and underground power lines from the mainland to provide tourism services on the island.

Up to now, many large-scale projects have been built to serve tourism, including resorts, restaurants, golf courses, swimming pools, concrete roads around the island, etc.

According to the People's Committee of Vinh Cuu district, the locality is coordinating to inspect the implementation of legal regulations related to land and construction on O island and Dong Truong island.

Regarding this issue, Dong Nai Department of Construction confirmed that the constructions on O and Dong Truong islands have not been granted construction permits. This is under the authority of the district level.

Temporarily suspending tourist activities to O Island - Dong Truong

Tri An is an artificial lake located on the Dong Nai River, in Vinh Cuu, Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat and Trang Bom districts (Dong Nai) with an area of over 32,000 hectares.

Tri An Lake has a total of about 76 large and small islands. Of which, O Island has an area of about 2 hectares and Dong Truong Island has an area of about 22 hectares, located close to each other.

Previously, this tourist area announced that it would temporarily stop receiving tourists to O - Dong Truong island from March 1 "according to State regulations".
