The relics of the heart of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc are enshrined at the Vietnam National Pagoda.
Amid the hot weather in Ho Chi Minh City, since this morning, May 6, people and Buddhists have lined up in front of the gate of Vietnam Quoc Tu (District 10) waiting to enter and worship the Heart Relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc.
This is one of the spiritual activities within the framework of the United Nations Vesak Festival 2025, attracting a large number of Buddhists and people to make pilgrimages.
Many people prepare umbrellas, wide-brimmed hats, hand fans, and wet towels to "cool off" under the hot sun, waiting to worship.
Those present patiently lined up in an orderly manner at the Vietnam National Temple grounds.
Volunteers guide and coordinate people to line up in order.
To support people in the hot weather, the Vesak 2025 Organizing Committee has arranged health care areas, with medical teams on duty at many locations around the temple grounds.
Information desks are also set up to assist Buddhists and people coming from all over the country.
Priority support is given to the elderly and children.
Some people from provinces in the Central and Northern regions traveled more than a thousand kilometers to Ho Chi Minh City to pay homage to the Heart Relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc and participate in the series of activities of the 2025 Vesak festival.
According to plan, the heart relics of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc will continue to be enshrined at Vietnam National Pagoda until May 10.
During the peak days of Vesak, the number of worshipers is expected to continue to increase sharply, especially in the evenings when the weather is milder.
Not only a spiritual ritual, the image of people lining up to worship the relics also shows the widespread spread of the Vesak spirit - promoting the values of peace , humanity and the Vietnamese people's respect for the eternal values of Buddhism.
This is the fourth time Vietnam has hosted Vesak, but the first time Ho Chi Minh City has organized this event. This year's ceremony gathered more than 2,700 delegates, including about 1,250 international guests from 85 countries and territories.
The overarching theme of Vesak 2025 is: “Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Insight for World Peace and Sustainable Development”, demonstrating Buddhism’s spirit of dialogue, engagement and sharing in the face of global challenges.
The organizing committee said it received 620 papers in English and 330 papers in Vietnamese, focusing on the role of Buddhism in peace building, sustainable development and adaptation to modern society.
On the afternoon of May 5, representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha went to the State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, to invite the Heart Relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc to be enshrined at the Vietnam National Pagoda.
