The Yen recovered from a losing streak thanks to the BoJ meeting minutes, while the USD was pressured by expectations of a Fed rate cut and market risk sentiment.

At the end of the trading session on March 25, the Yen (JPY) attracted buying interest after hitting a three-week low against the USD, fluctuating around 150.444 USD/JPY; meaning 1 USD can be exchanged for about 150 JPY.
The rebound helped the JPY snap a three-day losing streak, helped by minutes from the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) January meeting, in which policymakers discussed the conditions for further rate hikes.
The BoJ's move contrasts with the US Federal Reserve's (FED) forecast of two rate cuts by 2025, dampening the USD's recovery momentum and limiting the USD/JPY exchange rate below 151.00.
However, according to FXStreet, market risk sentiment is still supported by expectations that US President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariff plan will be narrower in scope and less impactful than initially forecast.
In addition, the US-Russia talks on a ceasefire in the Black Sea, along with China’s stimulus measures, have boosted investor confidence, limiting the safe-haven yen’s sharp rise, which may prevent it from rising too much.
US economic data is also weighing on the market. The US composite PMI rose to 53.5 in March from 51.6 previously, helping the USD maintain its advantage over the JPY.
