Specifically, as of recent days, the best-selling anime is still Conan: Black Iron Submarine (2023) with 96 billion VND.

But after last weekend, Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth has surpassed 100 billion VND, breaking the record.

Error up to 15% due to too many discounted tickets

The revenue figure of Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth displayed on Box Office Vietnam on the morning of June 3 was 108 billion VND.

The website representative told Tuoi Tre Online that this was an adjusted number, after comments from the theater owner because the previous error was up to 15%.

Last weekend, there was information that Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth had surpassed 100 billion VND due to the number displayed on Box Office Vietnam early morning on June 2.

But when Tuoi Tre Online contacted, Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong - representative of Box Office Vietnam - said this number is too high compared to reality and the website is adjusting according to suggestions from theater owners to be more realistic.

If with other movies, Box Office Vietnam usually has an error of 5% to 10%, then for Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth it is 15%.

"Because last week coincided with the end of the school year summary, the number of group tickets and student discount tickets for Doraemon was very large, leading to a decrease in the average ticket price of Doraemon , making the revenue of the publisher certainly not as much as we displayed.

Student ticket discount policies of all cinema complexes cannot be purchased online, and can only be applied when coming directly to the cinema due to the need to confirm age directly.

Therefore, Box Office Vietnam cannot measure this discount data" - Mr. Khanh Duong explained.

At the time of the news " Doraemon reached 100 billion VND" (June 2), Mr. Khanh Duong estimated that the actual revenue would only reach 90 billion VND if 5% VAT and discounts for students were deducted.

Up to now (morning of June 3), after Box Office Vietnam adjusted the data, it can be confirmed that Doraemon has surpassed 100 billion VND and broken the record of Conan: Black Iron Submarine.

Doraemon - undefeated brand in Vietnam

Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth is not an excellent part of the 43-part theatrical film series of the Doraemon brand.

But the movie was lucky to be released in theaters at a time when Vietnamese audiences were accustomed to watching movies in theaters, showing them during the summer holidays to serve a large target audience: students, families, adults reminiscing about their childhood...

Since its first translation in Vietnam in 1992, 32 years have passed, Doraemon is still an "undefeated brand in Vietnam" and is loved by many generations.
