( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - The Tri Binh - Dung Quat Road Project started construction in Dung Quat Economic Zone in 2015. After many construction stops, the contractor resumed construction in early 2023, striving to complete it before this year's storm season.
Strive to complete before the rainy season
The Tri Binh - Dung Quat road project is 8.7km long, with a total investment of 1,500 billion VND, divided into 2 phases. Of which, phase 1 started construction in May 2015, with a total investment of 1,113 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2016; phase 2 has a total investment of more than 390 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2018. The project is invested by the Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board and the provincial industrial parks. The starting point of the road is at the intersection with National Highway 1 and Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway, the end point is at the intersection with Vo Van Kiet Street. The project has been extended by the Provincial People's Committee twice, of which the second extension (in 2022) set the completion date for phase 1 in 2023; investment in phase 2 has not been considered yet.

Director of the Construction Investment Project Management Board (Dung Quat Economic Zone and Provincial Industrial Zones Management Board) Nguyen Phi Phuong said that currently, nearly the last 1km of road has been connected to National Highway 1, graded with crushed stone, and compacted; when the weather is favorable and conditions are met, it will be paved with asphalt. It is expected that within the next 45 days, it will be completed, accepted, and put into use. Up to this point, the Tri Binh - Dung Quat road has been accepted and handed over 7.7km, with only the last 1km remaining to be handed over before this year's storm season. At that time, the entire Tri Binh - Dung Quat road will complete phase 1.
Encroachment on the route corridor
According to the investor, the Tri Binh - Dung Quat Road project is behind schedule for many reasons. The main reason is due to problems with site clearance. At the same time, after inspections and checks, many violations were pointed out and construction had to be stopped for correction. For example, the work of making estimates incorrectly calculated the volume, leading to an increase in the estimated value of more than 1.1 billion VND; some technical errors needed to be handled before continuing construction. Furthermore, due to the large investment capital for the project, and its implementation during a period when the provincial budget was unbalanced, the project was not implemented continuously and stopped for many years.
Currently, the above violations have been basically resolved, and the Tri Binh - Dung Quat Road Project Phase 1 is about to reach its finish line. However, the encroachment on the safety corridor of the route is currently widespread. People have opened shops, built houses, and planted trees in the area where compensation and land clearance have been made to build the corridor. Therefore, the Binh Son District government needs to proactively coordinate with the Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board and the provincial industrial parks to inspect and thoroughly handle the above situation. In addition, there are currently some land areas planned for Phase 2 of the Tri Binh - Dung Quat Road Project that have been compensated and reclaimed but have not been strictly managed, and the land has been re-encroached...
