The sub-project, implemented by the Research and Career Assistance Institute (REACH) from March 2025 to March 2027, focuses on vocational training, skill improvement and job creation in the tourism and hospitality sectors, prioritizing ethnic minority women, youth and vulnerable groups. The project aims to build 20 on-site training business models (cafes, restaurants, spas); train 450 young people, of which at least 70% will have jobs after 6 months of graduation; and improve the capacity of about 100 tourism businesses in the area.
After 9 months of implementation, the project has organized 8 vocational training courses, including 4 non-alcoholic beverage preparation classes, 2 culinary techniques classes, 1 restaurant and bartending class and 1 hotel service class. 190 students, including ethnic minority women, youth and people with disabilities, participated in the training, initially forming a local tourism human resource that meets service standard requirements.

The working group supervised the implementation models at Thao Nguyen Hotel & Resort Moc Chau, Thao Nguyen ward and Vigolando Van Ho Resort & Restaurant, Van Ho commune. These are the facilities that receive interns and recruit trained workers to work in tourism services.

Visit the coffee shop model of Ms. Xa Thi Kiem, Huoi Set village, Chieng Hac commune. Ms. Kiem is a student of the non-alcoholic beverage mixing class. After completing the training, she opened her own shop at home to create more income and create jobs for local workers.
Enterprises and business households of the model have highly appreciated the flexible training method, closely following the actual needs of the Sub-project, and at the same time hope that the project will continue to open more short-term training courses to supplement quality human resources for the tourism - hotel industry in the area. The training courses are assessed to be suitable for local conditions, cost-effective and create opportunities for ethnic minority women and young people to easily access new jobs.

The GREAT Project representative acknowledged REACH’s efforts during the implementation process and highly appreciated the initial results of the sub-project. GREAT requested the implementing unit to continue promoting the “on-the-job training” model, strengthen connections with tourism businesses and expand the scale so that more ethnic minority women and youth have the opportunity to participate, thereby contributing to improving the quality of tourism services and developing sustainable livelihoods in Son La .
