The food safety market model was born to ensure the supply of clean, safe food to consumers, meeting the increasing demand for food quality in Vietnam. Long Bien District, Hanoi , with its central location and rapid development, is focusing on building these market models to benefit both consumers and farmers.
On September 19, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development ( Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ), the Food Safety for Development Project (SAFEGRO) funded by the Canadian Government , in coordination with the People's Committee of Long Bien District organized an event to promote and introduce the food safety market model in Long Bien District, Hanoi City .

Canada has committed to supporting the promotion of the food safety market model in Long Bien through agricultural development and food safety cooperation programs. Canada will mobilize experts in the fields of agriculture and food to advise and provide finance for infrastructure construction, human resource training and improving management capacity for the market. The food safety market is closely monitored, ensuring clear origin, helping consumers feel more secure when choosing products. Here, farmers are supported to consume products at reasonable prices, creating economic development opportunities for farming households; Raising people's awareness of food safety, helping them make smarter choices when shopping. In particular, SAFEGRO has organized many in-depth training sessions for food safety managers, market management companies and traders, especially female traders, to raise awareness and change behavior in business and trading of safe food. In addition, SAFEGRO has supported the markets with many necessary equipment to improve food safety, such as stainless steel tables for meat stalls, poultry slaughterhouses, and fish basins at Thuong Thanh Market; completely replacing stainless steel shelves for vegetable stalls at Kim Quan Market; fully equipping hand washing sinks and garbage trucks for the two markets; along with providing uniforms, aprons, hats, and gloves for traders to improve personal hygiene. The project also provides cleaning and disinfection processes, tools, and chemicals for equipment and common spaces of the markets. The food safety market model in Long Bien District supported by Canada not only improves food quality for consumers but also contributes to raising awareness and food safety practices in the community. This cooperation demonstrates Canada's strong commitment to promoting sustainable development and food safety in Vietnam, contributing to building a healthy and sustainable consumer environment./.
