The ferryman met the General Secretary twice.
After more than 15 years of ferrying at Trang An Eco-tourism Area, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province, Ms. Nguyen Thi Du was honored to welcome and take General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit Trang An Eco-tourism Area twice. That was an unforgettable memory for Ms. Du. In the story Ms. Du told about the times she took the General Secretary to visit the tourist area, she always called the General Secretary "uncle" because of the special impression of closeness and affection.
Ms. Du shared: "When we got off the boat, he shook hands with me and the other boatmen around, so we felt he was very close and friendly. During the trip to visit Trang An Eco-tourism Area, I was both the boatman and the tour guide. While driving, he asked about Trang An, and I also enthusiastically introduced the beauty of the tourist area. He praised the beauty of Ninh Binh in general and Trang An tourist area in particular."
During that trip, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid much attention to the work of protecting the natural environment, preserving historical and cultural relics; encouraging local people to make more efforts to build Trang An into an attractive tourist destination, promoting strong economic restructuring, and exploiting the historical, cultural and ecological tourism potential of Ninh Binh to the fullest. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's advice became a driving force, encouraging the spirit, arousing the sense of responsibility of Ninh Binh people in joining hands to protect the natural environment, preserve historical relics, and develop tourism.
Up to now, Trang An has become a World Cultural and Natural Heritage - the heart of Ninh Binh province's tourism. Each citizen like Ms. Du has been promoting her role in protecting and promoting the value of the heritage, contributing to making Ninh Binh a major tourist center of the country as well as the world, as desired and expected by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during his lifetime.
Make tourism a spearhead economic sector
During his visit and work in the province in 2014, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong assessed: "Ninh Binh has both plains, mountains and coastal areas, with full conditions for developing agriculture, services and industry. In particular, the province has advantages for developing tourism such as: Trang An - Bai Dinh tourist area, Phat Diem stone church, hot springs, Cuc Phuong forest, Hoa Lu ancient capital. Therefore, in the economic development strategy for the coming time, Ninh Binh needs to promote the advantages of a land with many historical relics and beautiful natural landscapes to continue developing tourism and services. Tourism is a smokeless industry. This is the direction of industrialization of Ninh Binh".
With the vision and guidance of the General Secretary, Ninh Binh province has issued many mechanisms and policies to gradually turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, focusing on improving the quality of planning and adjusting the overall tourism development plan; investing in infrastructure and technical facilities; building tourism products and services associated with historical and cultural values; creating an environment and favorable conditions for businesses and communities to organize tourism activities...
Mr. Bui Van Manh, Director of the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province, said that the provincial tourism sector has advised the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee to concretize the viewpoints and orientations on tourism development of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong when he visited and worked in Ninh Binh into directives, resolutions, plans, and overall projects for tourism development, notably: Resolution No. 15/NQ-TU dated July 12, 2009 of the Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee on tourism development in Ninh Binh to 2020, with a vision to 2030; Planning for the development of Trang An eco-tourism area, Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area, and Bai Dinh Pagoda mountain spiritual and cultural tourist area; Resolution No. 07/NQ-TU dated October 29, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045. With determination and perseverance in implementing the tourism development orientation, Ninh Binh has gradually developed into a leading destination in Vietnam and Southeast Asia with 17 famous domestic and international tourist areas and spots; especially Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was assessed by the Director-General of UNESCO and the President of the 42nd UNESCO General Assembly as a typical model of conservation and socio-economic development associated with ensuring livelihoods for local people.
In the coming time, the tourism sector will advise the provincial People's Committee to develop projects, plans and programs to implement annual solutions such as: Developing tourism products associated with heritage and traditional cultural values of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu; building eco-tourism products based on the community and local people. The sector continues to build and promote the image of local tourism and build tourist destinations. These are key solutions and tasks implemented annually to realize the orientations and suggestions to develop Ninh Binh tourism to become a leading destination not only in Vietnam but also in the world.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the whole province welcomed 6.28 million visitors; revenue reached nearly 5,940 billion VND. That achievement is like a gift of gratitude and special affection from the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh sent to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - a true communist who devoted himself to serving the Fatherland and the people.
