About 130 km north of Beijing, but it only takes 30 minutes to get to Tianjin by high-speed train.
The highlight of the city is Hai Ha – the “Mother River” of Tianjin. Hai Ha is about 73km long in this city.
With its winding length throughout the city of Tianjin, this river carries on its back countless bridges from ancient to modern. That is why Hai Ha is known as the river of bridges. According to data in an article on the Tianjin Political Consultative Conference website, there are up to 30 bridges on Hai Ha, both ancient and modern. These bridges are not only historical relics, but also featured in movies, novels, and poems.
Coming to Tianjin, besides exploring architectural and cultural heritages, taking a cruise to enjoy the scenery on the river is also a unique feature not to be missed.
Ms. Bien Nguyen Nguyen shared: “Today, taking a cruise on the Hai Ha River left a deep impression on me. There are many structures on both sides of the river. Normally, it is easy to ignore them, but now that I have seen them with my own eyes, I am overwhelmed. On both sides of the river, there are also Tianjin residents waving, making us feel the warmth of this city.”
Night is the best time to see Hai Ha, the lights from both sides of the river reflect on the shimmering water, Tian Tan Eye and some other scenic spots are perfect spaces for taking photos.
The most famous bridge and the highlight and symbol of Tianjin is Yongle Bridge with a Ferris wheel ranked in the Top 5 globally called “Tianjin Eye”. Tianjin Yongle Bridge is not only famous for being a symbol of modern Tianjin, but also for tourists and locals who always check-in and recommend it to their friends, because “Tianjin Eye” is the only Ferris wheel in the world located on a bridge.
Thanh Quang Vu, an employee of Hai Ha Tan Lu Thien Tan Yacht Joint Stock Company, said: “The ‘Tian Tan Eye’ Ferris wheel has a diameter of 110 meters, and its highest point can reach 120 meters, equivalent to the height of a 35-story building. There are 48 360-degree rotating transparent cabins mounted on the outside of the Ferris wheel, each cabin can accommodate 8 people, and the entire Ferris wheel can carry 384 visitors at the same time. Each rotation takes about 30 minutes.”
Tianjin Haihe Tanlu Yacht Joint Stock Company is the only unit licensed to operate tourism on this river. During the 2023 tourist season, Haihe River cruises made a total of 17,671 trips, welcoming 1.472 million tourists. Since the company was established in July 2009 to December 2023, this tourist route has welcomed more than 8 million people, becoming a destination chosen by many tourists every time they come to Tianjin.
