New watermelon variety BO 21 has high yield

A household in Thuong Quan commune harvests BO 21 melons.

BO 21 watermelon has a beautiful appearance, long fruit, bright color, shiny skin, and is favored by the market. During the development process, the plant is healthy, low mortality rate. The current selling price at the field is 8,500 VND/kg, 1,000 VND/kg higher than regular melons.

After harvesting, families gather melons on the shore, waiting for traders to come and buy them.

In the spring-summer crop of 2024, Thuong Quan commune has more than 70 hectares of watermelon, with an average yield of 33 tons/ha, an increase of 3 tons/ha compared to the previous spring-summer crop. Of which, 5 hectares are planted with BO 21 watermelon. It is expected that in the coming crops, Thuong Quan commune will expand the area planted with this type of watermelon.
