Turning Mang Thit contemporary heritage site into a landscape

On June 2, news from the Office of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province said that Mr. Nguyen Van Liet, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, has just signed a decision approving the master plan for the construction of the Mang Thit contemporary heritage site (Mang Thit district) until 2045.

Accordingly, the planning boundary has an area of over 3,000 hectares, located in 4 communes of Mang Thit district: My An, My Phuoc, Nhon Phu and Hoa Tinh. The short-term planning to 2030 and long-term planning to 2045 will turn the contemporary heritage site (brick kilns, pottery...) into a key tourist area of the province, oriented to be a national tourist area, playing an important role in promoting socio -economic development, especially tourism for Vinh Long province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general.

The objective of the planning is to study and propose general planning solutions for the Mang Thit contemporary heritage site, exploit the overall values and potentials, develop community tourism into one of the economic pillars in the correlation of sustainable development with other economic sectors, environment and society; ensure national security and defense, and form a landscape - heritage - service ecosystem.

This includes reviewing, updating, adjusting and supplementing the contents of relevant planning projects in the area, to ensure overall and harmonious orientations, and to fully exploit the potential in the entire research area. Orientation of spatial organization, land use planning, technical infrastructure, social infrastructure as the basis for zoning planning, detailed planning, and construction investment management. Creating a legal basis for planning to implement the next steps of construction investment management and socio-economic development according to the plan. The competent authority will conduct additional surveys and measurements of topographic maps at a scale of 1/10,000, and supplement fluctuating locations to have accurate documents for planning implementation.
