Doctors at Military Hospital 103 (Ha Dong District, Hanoi ) have just successfully treated an 18-year-old male patient with multiple injuries due to electrical burns .
Previously, this male patient suffered an electrical burn accident while using a long aluminum pole to retrieve a kite that was stuck on a medium-voltage insulated wire. When the pole was brought close to the wire, the patient did not remember what happened. When he woke up, he found himself lying on the ground, with his clothes burned on the front of his body and legs.

After the accident, the patient was unconscious for about 10 minutes, taken to a local medical station for first aid and transferred to Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital on May 29.
Here, the patient was assessed to have many deep burns from 2nd to 4th degree on the trunk, limbs and suspected chest and abdominal injuries caused by electric sparks, so he was transferred to Military Hospital 103 the same day.
The patient was transferred to the Department of Surgical Intensive Care with many serious burn injuries, diaphragmatic perforation, lung parenchyma, liver... caused by electric sparks, skin injuries in other locations caused by burning clothes. The results of CT scan of the chest and abdomen showed solidification, subcutaneous emphysema on the right flank; grade 3 liver injury, subcapsular fluid accumulation...
The patient was indicated for surgery to control damage to the chest and abdomen, and had emergency surgery after about 1 hour.
After surgery, the patient continued to receive intensive treatment at the Department of Surgical Intensive Care and progressed well, was alert, had stable hemodynamics, and was removed from the endotracheal tube.
The patient was then transferred to Le Huu Trac National Burn Institute (Ha Dong district) for further treatment of burn injuries.
