Drowning while competing in swimming across the Cam River

Quang Ninh While swimming across the Cam River with a group, Tran Dinh Khiem, a 12th grade student at Tran Nhan Tong High School, drowned on the morning of June 25.

Khiem participated in the Cam River swimming competition with more than 100 athletes. While swimming in the middle of the river with the group, he drowned and sank. Some people rushed to save him, but the victim was missing.

At 1 p.m. the same day, Khiem's body was found near the accident site. Authorities are investigating the incident.

The 45th Cam River Swimming Tournament was organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Ninh province in coordination with the People's Committee of Dong Trieu town. Athletes from Ha Long city, Dong Trieu town and Quang Yen town competed in both individual and team events, distance 1-3 km. At the time of the competition, Quang Ninh had heavy rain.

The 20 km long Cam River originates from Yen Tu mountain range, flows through the communes and wards of Trang Luong, Binh Khe, Xuan Son, Hung Dao of Uong Bi city and Dong Trieu town, then flows into Kinh Thay river at Da Vach junction.
