On the morning of October 26, a training workshop and activities to apply the "Okada" training method took place at the VFF headquarters. This year's training workshop was named "Okada" after coach Takeshi Okada, who first led the Japanese team to the 1998 World Cup and brought the team to the knockout round of the 2010 World Cup.

The "Okada" coaching seminar was led by coaches from Imabari Football Club - a Japanese professional football club of the Meiji Yasuda J3 League.

Before arriving in Vietnam on October 26, the ASEAN Championship Mitsubishi Electric Cup trophy procession took place in Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and will continue to Jakarta (Indonesia) on November 2, before ending in Manila (Philippines) on November 9.

The group stage of the ASEAN Championship Mitsubishi Electric Cup (AFF Cup) 2024 will officially kick off on December 8 with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and Timor-Leste in Group A. Meanwhile, Group B has the participation of Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Laos.

The semi-finals will be held in a home and away format on December 26-27 and December 29-30. The two finals will take place on January 2 and January 5, 2025, respectively.
