To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong's liberation (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025), Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) coordinated with Hai Phong city to organize a ceremony to announce Hai Phong Station as a "tourist destination" and launch a high-quality train named "Hoa Phuong Do" on the morning of May 10.

According to VNR 's report, on the Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line, Vietnam Railways is regularly operating 4 pairs of trains per day. On weekends and holidays, when travel demand increases, the railway industry operates 6 pairs of trains per day to serve people and tourists; organizing daily passenger trains between Hanoi and Hai Phong serves both the travel needs of people and tourists, contributing to increasing the number of tourists to Hai Phong city.

“The inauguration ceremony of the Red Flamboyant Train today is a clear demonstration of VNR’s efforts to innovate. The train is now not just a means of transportation, but a special tourism product, closely associated with the image of Hai Phong city, where the red Flamboyant flowers bloom every summer. The Red Flamboyant Train will become an indispensable part of the journey to discover the beauty of the country, and especially of the Port City,” said Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of VNR.

With the aim of meeting the increasing demands of passengers, VNR has comprehensively renovated and upgraded passenger cars with luxurious interiors and modern amenities such as semi-automatic doors, LED screens, free wifi, and typical images of the Port City.

Notably, this is the first time the railway industry has put into operation a 34-seat VIP carriage, with an Indochinese-style interior. The 56-seat carriage is equipped with new-generation seats that can rotate 180 degrees, so passengers no longer have to worry about sitting in the opposite direction when the train is running. The carriages are all equipped with spacious hand-washing areas, modern and clean toilets. In addition, the train also has standard 64-seat carriages, applying flexible fares to meet the diverse travel needs of passengers.

Built in 1902, Hai Phong Station is one of the oldest and most historically valuable stations in the railway industry. With its ancient French architecture, Hai Phong Station is not only a transit point but also a work with deep historical, cultural and artistic values associated with the formation and development of the Port City.

“The recognition of Hai Phong Station as a 'tourist destination' is a worthy recognition for a heritage that preserves the historical and cultural imprints of the city, affirming that Hai Phong Station is not only a place to pick up and drop off train passengers but will also be a cultural and tourist destination, the starting point for the journey to discover the beauty and famous culinary quintessence of the Red Flamboyant City,” VNR leaders emphasized.

VNR is committed to continuing to promote infrastructure development projects, improve service quality and improve utilities on railway routes, contributing to the overall development of the transport industry; with the goal of bringing the best experiences and services to serve people and tourists, creating favorable conditions for economic, cultural and social development./.
