EVN speeds up implementation of many power projects

To fulfill the task of power supply, EVN and its member units are accelerating the implementation of power source and grid projects with the greatest effort.

Early and safe power supply

In October 2025, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) ensured safe electricity supply to serve the country's socio -economic development and meet people's living needs.

The total system's electricity production and import output in October 2025 reached 27.26 billion kWh. Accumulated in the first 10 months of 2025, the total system's output reached 268.82 billion kWh.

Due to many storms, hydroelectric plants nationwide also have more room to generate electricity, contributing to reducing the proportion of coal-fired thermal power in electricity production.
The proportion of power source mobilization of the entire system in the first 10 months of the year is as follows:
+ Hydropower: 87.58 billion kWh, accounting for 32.6%.
+ Coal-fired thermal power: reached 124.26 billion kWh, accounting for 46.2%.
+ Gas turbine: 16.64 billion kWh, accounting for 6.2%.
+ Renewable energy: 32.59 billion kWh, accounting for 12.1% (of which solar power reached 20.59 billion kWh, wind power reached 10.99 billion kWh).
+ Imported electricity: 7.38 billion kWh, accounting for 2.7%...
Power transmission output in October 2025 reached 22.88 billion kWh; cumulative output in the first 10 months of 2025 is estimated at 221.36 billion kWh.

Currently, EVN and distribution corporations are actively providing electricity to households in low-lying areas without access to the national grid.

The Northern and Central Power Corporation has completed supplying electricity to 35/35 BTS stations in the villages with low signal and no electricity. The remaining 72 BTS stations are supplied with electricity from local sources. EVN has completed the preparation work for supplying electricity and is waiting for MobiFone 's BTS station installation plan to implement.

Regarding the power supply for villages without electricity, EVN has compiled the investment volume for power supply for villages, households without electricity, households with tail-fishing, small and medium-sized irrigation pumping stations in the Mekong Delta region according to the objectives of the Rural Power Supply Program for mountainous and island areas to register State budget capital in the medium-term public investment plan 2026 - 2030 under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance .

EVN and its units have also urgently implemented the restoration of power supply after storms. Accordingly, storm No. 11 (MATMO) from October 1 to 6, 2025 caused severe flooding in the northern localities and caused great damage to power projects as well as power supply in Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Lang Son, and Cao Bang.

Storm No. 12 (FENGSHEN) from October 17 to 23, 2025 caused heavy rain and floods, causing heavy damage to people and property in localities from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai. Storm No. 12 and the rain and floods after the storm greatly affected power projects and power supply in Da Nang, Hue, Quang Ngai and Quang Tri.

EVN has directed units to mobilize human resources to support troubleshooting of storm-caused incidents on the power system, quickly restoring power supply to affected customers while ensuring safety.

Accelerate investment projects

The Group and its units are focusing on investing in power source and grid projects according to the annual plan, focusing on key projects under the direction of the Standing Committee of the Group's Party Committee.

In the first 10 months of 2025, EVN and its units started construction of 135 projects and completed energizing 172 power grid projects from 110 to 500 kV (05 500 kV projects, 21 220 kV projects and 146 110 kV projects).

There are also two power source projects, Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant and Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion, which will start construction in October 2025.

EVN has also completed the project of supplying electricity from the national grid to Con Dao special zone; completed the 500 kV Lao Cai transformer station and the 500 kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line; completed 05 power grid projects (500 kV Vinh Yen transformer station, Huoi Quang - Nghia Lo line; 220 kV Phu Binh 2 and Ba Thien transformer stations; 220 kV Nhon Trach 3 - My Xuan - Cat Lai branch line; installed additional capacitor banks on the Northern power grid; At the same time, completed the site clearance of the 220 kV Thanh Xuan station and the 220 kV Tay Ha Noi - Thanh Xuan line...

There have also been many important steps forward for key power projects. Specifically, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project has successfully installed the rotor of Unit 2 and is completing and aligning it to generate electricity in November 2025.

At the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant Project, the overall progress reached 96.57%, with preparation for coal burning of unit 1 in November 2025.

According to the plan, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion will generate electricity from Unit 2 in November 2025; striving to complete the entire project in December 2025. The Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant will also burn coal from Unit 1 in November 2025 and connect Unit 1 to the grid in December 2025.

In addition, EVN also strives to start construction of the Quang Trach II Thermal Power Project in December 2025, while focusing all resources and closely following up to complete site clearance to implement the Tri An Hydropower Expansion Project; and implementing the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project according to the signed contract schedule...

In addition, it is necessary to focus on directing and urging the progress of investment preparation and construction progress of key power grid projects. In particular, speeding up the implementation progress to energize the 220kV Tuong Duong - Do Luong and Do Luong - Nam Cam lines; starting construction of the 500kV Hoa Binh 2 switching station and connecting in the fourth quarter of 2025; speeding up the progress of the 500kV 04-circuit line connecting the 500kV Thanh My transformer station...

To ensure electricity for economic development and people's lives in all situations, EVN still calls for sharing and active coordination of people and electricity customers through economical use of electricity; pay attention not to use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time during peak hours.

In the first 10 months of 2025, the Group and its member units have carried out many meaningful social security activities with a total value of about 125.6 billion VND. Typical examples include actively participating in sponsoring and supporting the program "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in many localities with a total amount of nearly 50 billion VND; supporting the recovery of consequences of natural disasters and floods in many localities in the North and Central regions with a total amount of about 31.7 billion VND.
