"Because of his huge record, many requests were made by France Football magazine to award Messi the Super Ballon d'Or. However, this proposal was rejected by France Football ," Marca reported.
The Super Ballon d'Or title was awarded by France Football magazine only once in 1989 to the late legendary player Alfredo Di Stefano, who won the Ballon d'Or twice in 1957 and 1959, and was runner-up once in 1956.
The Ballon d'Or super election was organized by France Football in 1989, through the consultation of readers and famous players who have won the Ballon d'Or to vote.
