This is confirmed to be the latest game in the Black Myth universe, but it is not a sequel to the story of Wukong.

However, Game Science quickly quelled the worries of Sun Wukong fans with a strong affirmation: "The journey to the west will not end here." This implicitly shows that the future of Black Myth: Wukong is still wide open, even though the project about Zhong Kui was given priority to be introduced first.

One important thing gamers should note is that Black Myth: Zhong Kui is in its early stages of development. Game Science has honestly admitted that the project "isn't even finished with the script yet" and likened it to "being pretty much an empty folder at this stage." As such, the first trailer is just a big CG short film that's meant to announce the project's launch, rather than showing off gameplay.

Although it will be a long wait, Game Science's revelation of its ambition to expand the Dark Myth universe with a potential character like Zhong Kui is enough to make the gaming community restless.
