(Dan Tri) - In 2025, nearly 150,000 candidates passed the university entrance exam but did not confirm their enrollment, the highest in the past 3 years.

According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training on university admission information in 2025, the whole country has more than 1.16 million students taking the high school graduation exam.

Of these, more than 849,500 candidates registered for university admission. More than 310,000 candidates refused to register for university admission.

There were 773,167 candidates admitted to university in the first round out of the total number of candidates registered for admission. However, there were nearly 148,000 candidates admitted to university but did not confirm their admission.

The number of university admission candidates who did not confirm their enrollment in 2025 is the highest in the past 3 years.

Thus, including the number of candidates who refused to register for university admission and the number of candidates who passed the entrance exam but did not confirm enrollment this year, the number is up to nearly 460,000 candidates.

In 2023, there will also be about 330,000 candidates who do not register for university admission and nearly 120,000 candidates who are admitted but do not confirm their enrollment.

In 2024, the whole country will have about 337,000 candidates who did not register for university admission and nearly 129,000 candidates who passed the entrance exam but did not confirm their enrollment.

However, from 2023 to now, the number of candidates confirming university admission has increased sharply. In 2023, only nearly 494,500 candidates confirmed admission, in 2024 it increased to 549,500 candidates confirmed admission and in 2025 the number of candidates confirmed admission was nearly 625,500 candidates.

In particular, the number of admission wishes registered for university admission in 2025 is up to more than 7.6 million wishes, in 2024 it is nearly 4 million wishes, in 2023 it is more than 3.4 million wishes.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2025 there will be 17 admission methods, no more early admission. Candidates have many unspecified wishes.

The fact that candidates refuse to register for university entrance exams or pass but do not confirm their admission explains that university education is now one of many options, not the only option for many students. Many students determine other paths such as studying abroad, vocational training, entering the labor market or due to tuition pressure.
