During the training period, trainees were equipped with knowledge about symptoms, complications and solutions to prevent and minimize the harmful effects of diabetes; the role of iodine in the human body; epidemiology and measures to prevent and control iodine deficiency disorders.   Through training, grassroots health workers are able to improve their capacity to prevent, detect and manage patients with diabetes and iodine deficiency disorders; at the same time, they strengthen their skills in counseling, communication and implementing effective disease prevention and control activities in the community.
