The 2023 Vietnam Amateur Open Championship series takes place at Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc (Bai Dai, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang ), including 3 tournaments. The Vietnam Amateur Open (VAO) Men's Championship starts from July 13 to July 16. The Vietnam Amateur Open (VLAO) Women's Championship competes from July 13 to July 15. The National Junior Championship (VJO) takes place from July 19 to July 21.
VAO, VLAO and VJO will return for the 18th year with a completely new look and the appearance of Nam A Bank - the title sponsor of the 2023 Amateur Tournament System. With the message "Outdrive Your Passion", VAO & VLAO - VJO season 2023 will be a playground where athletes turn passion into action to realize their goals.
Nearly 300 athletes participate in the 2023 Vietnam Open amateur golf tournament series.
The Vietnam Amateur Golf Championship Series for the Nam A Bank Cup promises to bring a breath of fresh air to Phu Quoc this summer with exciting and dramatic performances.
According to the Organizing Committee's regulations, the Handicap Index (HCP Index) of athletes will remain the same as in 2022: the maximum HCP Index is 9.0 for male athletes and 15.0 for female athletes.
Not only domestic athletes but also players from countries in Southeast Asia, the tournament opens up opportunities to compete, gain professional experience and improve their skills. At the same time, athletes will also experience new challenges at Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc.
Athletes participating in VAO as well as VLAO 2023 will have to pass the cut after 36 holes to qualify for the final rounds and receive the main prizes. Meanwhile, young athletes participating in VJO 2023 will compete continuously for 3 days, without applying the cut.
Still maintaining the regulations of last year, this year VAO and VLAO will only award the championship trophy to the athlete with the best results in the tournament (regardless of whether they are Vietnamese or foreign). The champions will be exempted from the tournament entry fee in the following year.
The Vietnam Golf Association will still review the eligibility of golfers who register to participate in accordance with the Amateur Status Rules of R&A Rules Limited and the United States Golf Association (USGA). The National Handicap System (vHandicap) will also be applied to check the handicaps of golfers within the allowed handicap limits to ensure the professional quality of the tournaments.
It is expected that there will be about 120 male athletes, 40 female athletes and 120 young athletes participating. Athletes who register early and complete the competition fee payment procedure before the deadline will be given priority.
