Nearly 400 candidates dropped out of the Math exam for 10th grade public schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

Responding to VTC News, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this morning (June 7), there were 95,938 candidates taking the Math exam out of a total of 96,334 registered candidates, with 396 absent.

Mr. Minh said that in the Literature exam on the morning of June 6, there were 95,959/96,334 candidates registered, 375 candidates were absent, reaching a rate of 99.61%.

In the Foreign Language exam (afternoon of June 6), there were 95,951 test takers, reaching a rate of 99.60%.

"After finishing the Math exam, this afternoon, there are only more than 6,000 candidates taking the entrance exam for specialized schools, specialized classes and integrated classes taking the specialized and integrated exams," said Mr. Minh.

For specialized and integrated grade 10 candidates, the exam will be on the afternoon of June 7. The exam time for specialized and integrated subjects is 150 minutes.

Admission score for specialized grade 10 = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + specialized subject score x 2 + incentive points (if any).

Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted accepts junior high school students from other provinces to take the exam if they meet the required conditions.

Students register 4 wishes, of which wishes 1 and 2 are for specialized classes; wishes 3 and 4 are for non-specialized classes at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

If students do not pass the entrance exam to specialized schools or specialized classes, they can still apply to grade 10 of high school.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City will enroll more than 77,000 10th graders in more than 100 public high schools.

From June 12 to June 17, the exam board will mark the exams. The exam results are expected to be announced on June 20. Units with 9th grade students will start accepting applications for review from candidates from June 21 to June 24.

Also on June 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the admission scores for specialized and integrated high schools and the direct admission results. On July 10, the department announced the admission scores for grade 10 and the list of candidates admitted to grade 10 for the 2023-2024 school year.
