Pork prices continued to rise nationwide on December 17th, especially in the North, with Bac Ninh province reaching the highest price of 66,000 VND/kg due to improving year-end consumption demand.

According to observations on the morning of December 17th, live pig prices nationwide continued their slight upward trend, fluctuating between 59,000 and 66,000 VND/kg. The most notable development was in the Northern market, where pig prices reached a new peak since the beginning of the month.

The reason for this price increase is believed to be the gradually improving demand for pork as localities prepare for the year-end holidays and Lunar New Year, while the supply has not changed significantly.

Pork prices in Northern Vietnam lead the upward trend.

In the northern region, today's live pig prices recorded a common increase of 1,000 – 2,000 VND/kg, bringing the general price level to 63,000 – 66,000 VND/kg. Bac Ninh province has become the locality with the highest purchase price in the country after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 66,000 VND/kg.

Tuyen Quang province recorded the sharpest increase of 2,000 VND/kg, reaching 65,000 VND/kg. Other localities such as Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, and Ninh Binh also simultaneously adjusted prices upwards by 1,000 VND/kg, trading at 65,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, some provinces such as Hung Yen, Cao Bang, and Hai Phong maintained stable prices compared to yesterday.

Pork prices in Central and Central Highlands regions increased slightly.

The market in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands experienced relatively stable prices, with live pig prices fluctuating between 62,000 and 65,000 VND/kg. A slight increase of 1,000 VND/kg was recorded in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, bringing prices in these two localities to the highest in the region at 65,000 VND/kg, on par with Da Nang and Quang Ngai. Other provinces such as Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong did not record any price changes.

Pork prices in Southern Vietnam remain relatively stable.

In the South, the live pig market remained relatively stable. The only increase, 1,000 VND/kg, was recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, reaching 63,000 VND/kg. This is also the highest price in the region, on par with Dong Nai province. Other localities such as Dong Thap, Vinh Long, and Can Tho maintained prices between 60,000 and 61,000 VND/kg. An Giang province continued to have the lowest purchase price nationwide, at 59,000 VND/kg.
