Forecast of global pork production in 2025

According to the latest report, global pork production in 2025 is expected to decline by 0.8% to 115.1 million tons. This decline will mainly come from China and the European Union, although Vietnam, the United States and Brazil are expected to contribute to make up the shortfall.

In Vietnam, pork output in 2025 is forecast to increase by 3% to 3.8 million tons, thanks to the expansion of pig herds and good control of African swine fever (ASF).

Brazil is expected to produce 4.6 million tonnes, up 1.2% from a year earlier, thanks to low production costs and strong exports.

In contrast, China - the world's largest consumer market - is forecast to decrease by 2.2% to 55.5 million tons, due to a decrease in sows and a gradual shift in domestic demand to poultry meat.

The European Union is also expected to see a 1.6% drop to 20.9 million tonnes, as pork prices slump and ASF-related trade restrictions remain in place.
