Low-emission green Vietnamese rice affirms new position
VIETRISA said that to date, more than 70,000 tons of rice have been granted the “Low Emission Green Vietnamese Rice” label within the framework of the Project on Transforming the Rice Value Chain to Respond to Climate Change in the Mekong Delta. This achievement helps Vietnam become the first country in the world to produce and export low-carbon rice in large quantities, creating a new milestone for the rice industry.
Although the above figure is modest compared to the tens of millions of tons of rice produced each year, this is still a promising start, encouraging farmers and businesses to strongly participate in the Project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta. Pioneering businesses such as Vinarice, Chon Chinh, A An, Trung An, AKJ or King Green are contributing to standardizing processes, investing in technology and accompanying farmers to reduce emissions, promoting the green transformation of the rice industry.
Mr. Truong Duy Hai, Deputy General Director of A An Company, emphasized that the enterprise pursues the goal of building a high-quality rice chain based on the values of kindness and serving society. Being granted the “Low-emission Green Vietnamese Rice” label is an important milestone, reinforcing the vision of bringing Vietnamese rice far and wide, while contributing to raising farmers’ income and providing safe, environmentally friendly products.
