Domestic coffee prices continue to fall
According to the record at 5:00 a.m. on June 4, 2025, the coffee market in the Central Highlands provinces adjusted down 1,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day. Currently, the average coffee purchase price in key areas is at 116,300 VND/kg.
In detail by locality, the coffee price in Dak Lak this morning was purchased at 116,500 VND/kg, while in Lam Dong it was 116,000 VND/kg, Gia Lai recorded a price of 116,300 VND/kg and Dak Nong had the same price as Dak Lak at 116,500 VND/kg.
Recently, Vietnamese coffee exporting enterprises have stepped up trade activities with neighboring markets such as Southeast Asia and China, taking advantage of transportation costs and similarities in consumer culture.
However, the coffee market is currently facing many potential risks. According to analysis from experts, coffee prices are likely to fluctuate strongly in the second half of June when information about inventories in Vietnam and Brazil is announced. If the weather in Brazil worsens and the USD maintains its upward trend, coffee prices may recover slightly. In a positive scenario, domestic coffee prices may inched up to VND118,000 - 119,000/kg in the next two weeks. Conversely, if export demand is weak, the market will tend to move sideways or decline slightly.
Domestic and export markets have seen a steady decline in coffee prices in recent days. Pressure comes from abundant supplies in Brazil and Indonesia, along with rising global inventories. In addition, trade tensions between countries have added to market uncertainty.
Pepper prices turn down
At 5:00 a.m. on June 4, 2025, the domestic pepper market decreased in price compared to the previous increase, the common decrease was 1,000 VND/kg in the main purchasing areas. Currently, the average pepper price in key areas reached 144,600 VND/kg.
In Gia Lai , pepper price this morning decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently being purchased at 144,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau also decreased by VND 1,000/kg, currently at VND 145,000/kg.
After many sideways sessions, pepper in Binh Phuoc also decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, traders are currently buying at 144,000 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak, pepper prices have decreased by 1,000 VND/kg after a session of increase, currently at 146,000 VND/kg.
World pepper prices remain stable
Data from the International Pepper Community (IPC) updated at 5:00 a.m. on June 4, 2025 showed that world pepper prices generally remained stable compared to the previous session.
Specifically, Indonesian Lampung black pepper is being traded at 7,428 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper is being offered at 10,129 USD/ton.
In Malaysia, ASTA black pepper prices continued to remain at USD 9,150/ton, while ASTA white pepper reached USD 11,850/ton.
The Brazilian pepper market remained unchanged from yesterday, with the current pepper price reaching $6,650/ton.
Vietnam's pepper export market is stable with a slight increase, the price of 500 g/l black pepper is at 6,500 USD/ton; 550 g/l is at 6,600 USD/ton; while white pepper is traded at 9,500 USD/ton.
The unstable fluctuations in domestic pepper prices make farmers and traders more cautious in buying and selling, reflecting a defensive mentality against unpredictable changes in supply and demand.
According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the first half of May, Vietnam exported more than 10,500 tons of pepper, worth nearly 75 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, this is a sharp decline in both output and value. However, the global pepper market is still vibrant in the first quarter of 2025, especially in the two main consumer markets, the US and China.
In the short term, domestic pepper prices are likely to decline slightly due to unstable export output and tight supply. However, in the long term, when the shortage of supply becomes evident, pepper prices can completely rebound.
