Domestic coffee remains stable
In the domestic market, the price of Central Highlands coffee on the morning of May 7, 2025 was stable at a high level, after a slight decrease in the previous session. The average price is currently around 128,600 VND/kg.
Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Lak are at 128,500 VND/kg, Lam Dong 128,200 VND/kg, Gia Lai 128,500 VND/kg and Dak Nong 128,700 VND/kg.
Earlier this week, domestic coffee prices fell sharply, losing an average of VND1,300/kg to VND128,600/kg. This has many farmers worried about the possibility of a repeat of the 2024 scenario, when prices peaked at VND134,400/kg in late April, then dropped to VND90,000/kg in May, and had to wait until November to recover.
Despite the volatility in the domestic market, coffee exports in the first four months of 2025 still recorded positive results. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , export turnover reached 3.78 billion USD, up more than 51% over the same period last year, mainly due to a sharp increase in selling prices. The average export price reached 5,698 USD/ton, up 67.5% over the previous year, including roasted and instant coffee.
Robusta coffee supplies from Vietnam in the first quarter of 2025 decreased, contributing to supporting prices in the current context. According to the General Department of Customs, coffee exports in the first quarter of 2025 decreased by 15.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching only 495,780 tons.
Pepper prices continue to decrease slightly
Domestic pepper prices updated at 5:00 a.m. on May 7, 2025 recorded a decrease of 500 - 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, except for Dak Lak, where pepper prices remained stable at 155,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price in Gia Lai decreased by 500 VND/kg, currently at 153,500 VND/kg. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau , pepper price decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, currently at 154,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices on the international market
According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the world pepper market remained stable at 5:00 a.m. on May 7, 2025, but black pepper prices in Malaysia decreased by 100 USD/ton compared to previous sessions.
Specifically, the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper is currently at 7,372 USD/ton, the price of Muntok white pepper is at 9,985 USD/ton. In Malaysia, the price of ASTA black pepper is at 9,200 USD/ton and the price of ASTA white pepper is at 11,900 USD/ton.
Brazilian pepper prices have not fluctuated much, currently reaching 6,800 USD/ton. The Vietnamese pepper market remains stable, with 500 g/l black pepper at 6,700 USD/ton, 550 g/l at 6,800 USD/ton and white pepper at 9,700 USD/ton.
Increased demand while supply has decreased has put pressure on pepper prices, which are expected to remain high in the medium and long term.
In the US market, Vietnam remained the largest pepper supplier in the first two months of 2025, accounting for more than 60% of total imports. However, this proportion decreased compared to the same period last year, when it accounted for nearly 79%. Meanwhile, Indonesia increased its market share from 6.45% to more than 20%.
The average imported pepper price from Vietnam reached 7,465 USD/ton, the highest among major suppliers, up nearly 59% over the same period in 2024. In contrast, the price from India was the lowest, only 6,735 USD/ton.
To maintain their position in the global market, Vietnamese enterprises need to focus on improving product quality, focusing on green and organic standards to meet increasingly stringent demands.
