According to VOV, the first shipment of more than 22 tons of frozen durian from Vietnam has been officially exported to China via Bac Luan II border gate. This event took place just 2 days after the talks between the leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the General Administration of Customs of China in Beijing, marking a new step forward in agricultural trade cooperation between the two countries.
The shipment of 22.24 tons of frozen durian originated from Lam Dong province, was transported through Mong Cai border gate, then cleared customs at Dong Hung border gate (Guangxi, China) from May 30. At the border gate, the entire shipment was strictly inspected. The durian was peeled and quickly cooled to minus 18 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen technology, helping to extend its shelf life, making it suitable for long-distance transportation and long-term storage.
Mr. Chen Jiqing, in charge of Yixin Dongxing Customs Declaration Co., Ltd., said: “This frozen durian truck departed from Lam Dong province, arrived at Mong Cai border gate, and then went through customs clearance procedures at Dongxing. After inspection, the goods will be shipped to food processing companies in China.”
He also shared that frozen durian has the advantage of a long shelf life, is convenient for consumers and is very suitable for the needs of Chinese food processing enterprises.
The official export of frozen durian under the bilateral protocol signed on August 19, 2024 is an important step forward, opening up great potential for the Vietnamese durian industry to penetrate deeper into the Chinese market in the coming time.
