Increasing potential for businesses and the country from the foundation of science and technology

Established in 2010 by Bao Son Education and Training Support Fund, Bao Son Award aims to honor Vietnamese intelligence and is one of the prestigious awards in Vietnam for research works, scientific and artistic creations with high application value and humanistic significance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Chairman of Bao Son Group (the sponsoring enterprise of the Award) said that, thoroughly implementing the guiding ideology of the Party and State leaders that science and technology development and innovation are the only way to develop the country and improve people's lives, meeting the increasing needs of the people, Bao Son Award will be maintained and developed for many decades to come. The value of the awards will continue to be increased and each year will increase by 10,000 USD for each award. Thus, it is expected that by the end of the 21st century, the value of each award will increase to the equivalent of 1 million USD, meaning that the annual budget for the award is 5 million USD.

In 2024, each award will be worth $120,000, along with a Gold Cup and a prestigious Certificate. The value of the award will increase by $10,000 each year, reaching $1,000,000 by 2087.

The Bao Son Award Ceremony 2024 is an opportunity to honor outstanding works that not only have high academic value but also have wide-ranging applications, making practical contributions to the country's sustainable development.

The event created a solemn and warm atmosphere, inspiring the scientific and artistic community, and the whole society in encouraging creativity, innovation, and dedication to the community.

The list of projects awarded the Bao Son Award 2024 includes: (1) "Research and production of African swine fever vaccine - AVAC ASF LIVE" by Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company; (2) "Endoscopic surgery in the treatment of thyroid diseases" by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Luong; (3) "Advanced three-phase composite materials in engineering" by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc; (4) "History of Ethnic Policy of Vietnamese Communists" by Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung warmly congratulated the scientists and authors of the four scientific research projects that were awarded prizes at tonight's event; at the same time, he highly appreciated the Bao Son Education and Training Support Fund and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for annually organizing the Award Ceremony for outstanding scientific projects in many fields.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that today's award ceremony is a concrete example of private enterprises proactively and actively participating in implementing major policies of the Party and State on science and technology development, especially Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, national innovation and digital transformation and Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo on private economic development.

Over the past time, Bao Son Award has supported, encouraged and promoted inventions, initiatives and research results of high scientific and practical value, which have been effectively applied and made outstanding contributions to the cause of national construction and protection.

Recognizing the particularly noble and important role of talents, emphasizing that "talents are the vitality of the nation", according to the Deputy Prime Minister, the team of entrepreneurs and intellectuals are talents contributing to the prosperity of the country.

In Resolution No. 45 dated November 24, 2023, the 13th Central Executive Committee affirmed: The intellectual team is "a special resource in the development of the knowledge economy, industrialization, modernization, international integration and the development of an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity"; "Building a strong and comprehensive intellectual team is an investment in building and nurturing national vitality; and sustainable development; is the responsibility of the Party, the State, the political system and society".

Resolution No. 57 dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo identifies the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation as the top important breakthrough, the main driving force to rapidly develop modern productive forces, perfect production relations, innovate national governance methods, develop socio-economy, prevent the risk of falling behind, and bring the country to breakthrough development and prosperity in the new era.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that in the context of globalization today, the unprecedented strong development of science and technology associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been requiring our country to grasp and approach new technologies, master new trends and situations. This is a very heavy requirement and challenge for Vietnamese science and technology intellectuals, to turn science and technology into an important production force, increase the value of competitive products in the international market, and contribute to the country's double-digit growth in the coming years.

"Science and technology intellectuals will continue to play the role of a bridge between knowledge and practice, actively contributing to the rising era of the Vietnamese nation, "help the country reach new heights," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Believing that the results of today's awards will be a source of motivation and encouragement for scientists to research and contribute their intelligence and strength to the country, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that businesses and economic organizations pay more attention to the development of science and technology, which also increases potential and competitiveness, creating new momentum for the development of businesses and the country./.
