Domestic pepper prices today - remain stable and anchored at a high level.
Today's pepper price was updated at 4:30 a.m. on May 22, 2025 as follows: The domestic market continues to be stable at a high level; only the Dak Lak and Dak Nong markets decreased slightly, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to the previous trading session. Currently, the average pepper purchase price in key areas is 151,100 VND/kg.
Specifically, today's pepper price in Gia Lai province remained stable compared to yesterday's slight decrease, currently the pepper purchase price in this locality is at 150,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc fluctuated little, with a stable trend compared to yesterday. Currently, pepper prices purchased by traders in the two localities are 151,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong fluctuated slightly down, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Currently, traders are purchasing pepper in these two localities at 152,000 VND/kg.

According to experts, pepper prices remain high but there is no breakthrough, mainly due to weak domestic purchasing power and farmers' waiting for prices to increase. Trading activities are also slow as export enterprises remain cautious about international developments.
However, the medium and long-term outlook for the pepper industry remains positive as the global supply shortage has not improved. Some major markets, especially China, have begun to import again, albeit on a limited scale, showing signs of a gradual recovery.

In addition, Vietnam’s pepper industry is facing increasing competitive pressure as countries such as Indonesia and Brazil are boosting output and investing in the supply chain. To maintain its position, experts say Vietnam needs to focus on improving processing and building a more recognizable export brand.
According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first 15 days of May 2025, Vietnam exported 10,594 tons of pepper, with a total export turnover of 74.6 million USD, a slight increase of 1.7% in volume and 3.6% in volume compared to the first half of April.

Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC) at 4:30 a.m. on May 22, 2025 as follows: the pepper market is stable and sideways compared to yesterday's increase and decrease session.
Specifically, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,379 USD/ton; similarly, Muntok white pepper is currently purchased at 10,062 USD/ton.
The Malaysian pepper market remains stable, currently the price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is purchased at 9,200 USD/ton and the price of ASTA white pepper is at 11,900 USD/ton.
Pepper prices in Brazil remained stable, with little change compared to the previous trading session. The current purchase price is 6,650 USD/ton.
The Vietnamese pepper market continues to move sideways and stabilize. Currently, the export price of Vietnamese black pepper is at 6,700 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l is at 6,800 USD/ton and the price of white pepper is at 9,700 USD/ton.

The US and China were the two largest export markets for Vietnamese pepper in the first half of May 2025, with 2,521 tons and 1,073 tons, respectively. Notably, pepper exports to China in the first 15 days of the month were nearly equal to the 1,337 tons of the previous month, showing that market demand is improving.
