Domestic pepper prices updated on the afternoon of May 21, 2025

On the afternoon of May 21, the domestic pepper market continued to fluctuate around 150,000 - 152,000 VND/kg; in which pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong decreased by 1,000 VND compared to yesterday.

According to experts, pepper prices remain high but there has been no breakthrough, mainly due to weak domestic purchasing power and farmers’ waiting for prices to rise. Trading activities are also slow as export enterprises remain cautious about international developments.

However, the medium and long-term outlook for the pepper industry remains positive as the global supply shortage has not improved. Some major markets, especially China, have begun to import again, albeit on a limited scale, showing signs of a gradual recovery.

In addition, Vietnam’s pepper industry is facing increasing competitive pressure as countries such as Indonesia and Brazil are boosting output and investing in the supply chain. To maintain its position, experts say Vietnam needs to focus on improving processing and building a more recognizable export brand.

According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first 15 days of May 2025, Vietnam exported 10,594 tons of pepper, with a total export turnover of 74.6 million USD, a slight increase of 1.7% in volume and 3.6% in volume compared to the first half of April 2025.
