According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 3,289.22 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 1.11% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,270 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 104 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is about 13.5 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices fell sharply after the US released its personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index. The US PCE rose 2.1% year-on-year in April, lower than the expected 2.2% year-on-year increase and lower than the 2.3% increase reported in March.
The core PCE index (excluding food and energy) rose 2.5% year-over-year, below the 2.6% increase expected and down from March. The PCE measures inflation (or deflation) across a range of consumer costs and reflects changes in consumer behavior.
With a price of around 3,300 USD/ounce, world gold has decreased by 20 USD/ounce in May, equivalent to a loss of 0.6%. However, compared to the past year, the precious metal still recorded an increase of 950 USD/ounce, equivalent to 40.7%.
Yesterday, gold prices fell sharply after the US International Trade Court issued a ruling blocking the implementation of President Trump's "Liberation Day" tax decree. Today, the Federal Court suspended the ban from the Trade Court, pushing world gold prices up again.
"Gold prices are currently in a correction phase. The current fluctuations are a normal market phenomenon, just a slightly wider range of fluctuations due to confidence in the US dollar," said Brian Lan, CEO of GoldSilver Central in Singapore.
The Fed's preferred measure of inflation, the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index, is due out tomorrow morning. Inflation is expected to have risen 2.2% in April, down slightly from 2.3% in March, according to a Reuters poll.
