SJC gold bar price jumps to 120 million VND/tael

Specifically, at around 9:15 a.m., the price of SJC gold bars at Mi Hong Gold Shop (HCMC) increased by VND500,000/tael for buying but increased by VND3.5 million/tael for selling compared to yesterday, listed at VND114 million/tael for buying and VND120 million/tael for selling. The difference between the buying price and selling price was up to VND6 million/tael.

SJC, PNJ and Bao Tin Minh Chau increased by 3 million VND/tael for buying and 2.5 million VND/tael for selling, listed at 115.5 million VND/tael for buying and 118 million VND/tael for selling.

Phu Quy Group also increased the buying price by 2.5 million VND/tael and the selling price by 2 million VND/tael, listed at 113.5 million VND/tael for buying and 116 million VND/tael for selling.

Thus, the highest price of SJC gold bars in the market this morning reached 120 million VND/tael, surpassing yesterday's peak at 116.5 million VND/tael.

The price of 9999 gold rings also continued to increase sharply this morning. Bao Tin Minh Chau Company increased 2.5 million VND/tael for both buying and selling compared to yesterday, quoting prices at 114.5 million VND/tael for buying and 117.5 million VND/tael for selling.

SJC Company also increased the buying price by 3.2 million VND/tael and the selling price by 3.5 million VND/tael compared to yesterday, listing 9999 gold rings at 113.8 million VND/tael for buying and 117 million VND/tael for selling.

Phu Quy Group also increased 1.8 million VND/tael for both buying and selling, trading at 112 million VND/tael for buying and 115 million VND/tael for selling.

PNJ Company alone still trades 9999 gold rings at yesterday's price: 110.5 million VND/tael for buying and 113.6 million VND/tael for selling.

The price of 9999 gold rings this morning also reached an all-time high of 117.5 million VND/tael, surpassing yesterday's peak of 115 million VND/tael.

In the world gold market, the closing price of gold in New York on the night of April 16 was 3,341.6 USD/ounce, up 112.5 USD compared to the previous session. The spot price of gold on Kitco at 9:30 a.m. on April 17 (Vietnam time) was 3,333.1 USD/ounce, down about 7 USD compared to the closing price in New York.

This is the highest price of gold in the world ever. This price after conversion is equivalent to 104.4 million VND/tael, lower than SJC gold bars by about 14.6-15.6 million VND/tael compared to yesterday at 11-12 million VND/tael and lower than 9999 gold rings by about 10-13.1 million VND/tael compared to yesterday at 10.2-11.5 million VND/tael.

The world gold price has reached an all-time high, surpassing 3,300 USD/ounce, up 3.5% compared to early 2025 and showing no signs of stopping in the context of widespread depreciation of the USD, uncertainty from tariff announcements and concerns about a global economic recession.

Although the general context will still support the precious metal to continue to increase in price, world experts warn that gold prices can reverse and fall at any time because they have increased too strongly in a short period of time. Therefore, the gold market is very likely to experience profit-taking or sell-offs if the trade developments between the US and China are more positive.
