World gold price today May 14, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 2:30 p.m. today, Vietnam time, was 3,231.99 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 21.5 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,120 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 102.86 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 16.64 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

In the domestic market, gold prices at domestic gold brands simultaneously decreased after the Prime Minister issued an official dispatch directing the State Bank of Vietnam to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to continue to seriously, fully, effectively and promptly implement tasks and solutions to stabilize the gold market.

Gold prices fell slightly as trade talks between the US and China made progress late last week, easing concerns about a global recession. This prompted investors to be more aggressive with risky assets, while reducing the appeal of gold as a safe haven.

According to market data, spot gold prices fell 0.66% to close to $3,200 an ounce. Meanwhile, gold futures in the US also fell slightly by 0.3% to $3,238.1. Previously, gold prices had set a new record of $3,500.05 an ounce last month due to concerns about escalating trade wars.

The main reason for the drop in gold prices is that the US and China reached an agreement to temporarily suspend punitive tariffs for 90 days after negotiations in Geneva over the weekend. According to an executive order from the White House and comments from industry experts, the US is expected to reduce the "de minimis" tariff on low-value goods imported from China to 30%.

"The stock market rallied after the announcement. At least in the short term, this reduces demand for gold. If gold falls below $3,200 an ounce, it is likely to fall further to $3,165 an ounce," said Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank.

Global stocks rose on optimism over the US-China trade war, while US inflation data came in below expectations. Investors are awaiting the US producer price index (PPI) report due on Thursday for further clues on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate path.

Earlier, lower-than-expected consumer inflation (CPI) data for April had fueled speculation that the Fed would cut interest rates this year. Currently, many traders expect the Fed to cut interest rates by a total of 53 basis points, starting in September.

Besides gold, other precious metals also fluctuated slightly: silver price decreased 0.2% to 32.83 USD/ounce, platinum increased 0.8% to 995.66 USD while palladium remained unchanged at 957.69 USD.
