Domestic gold prices have fluctuated violently since the beginning of the week. After increasing by 10 million VND per tael in the first two trading sessions of the week, domestic gold prices today turned sharply downward.
From this morning to this afternoon, the prices of SJC gold bars and plain rings have been continuously adjusted down sharply by brands.
This afternoon (April 23), the price of gold bars at Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) decreased to 116.5-119.5 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

Compared to the peak of 122-124 million VND/tael (buy - sell) at the end of yesterday's trading session, the price of SJC gold bars decreased by 5.5 million VND per tael for buying and 4.5 million VND per tael for selling.
Thus, if buying at the peak price yesterday and selling early this afternoon, investors would have lost 7.5 million VND per tael.
Following the same trend, the domestic gold ring price today also turned to "free fall".
Early this afternoon, SJC Company reduced the price of gold rings of type 1-5 to only 112.5-115.5 million VND/tael (buy - sell), down 3.5 million VND per tael in both buying and selling compared to the end of yesterday's session.
Similarly, Doji Gold and Gemstone Group also lowered the price of 9999 gold rings to 113.2-115.8 million VND/tael (buy - sell), down 4 million VND per tael for buying and 3.2 million VND per tael cheaper for selling compared to yesterday's closing price.
Bao Tin Minh Chau also lowered the price of plain round gold rings to 115.5-118.5 million VND/tael (buy - sell), down 3.5 million VND per tael in both buying and selling compared to yesterday's closing price.
Domestic gold prices plummeted amid rapidly falling world gold prices.
Yesterday, the world gold price increased rapidly, at one point reaching 3,492 USD/ounce - a record high in history. However, by the evening of the same day, the gold price suddenly reversed and fell sharply.
The downward trend continued today. As of 2:42 p.m. on April 23 (Vietnam time), the spot gold price on the world market had fallen to $3,314/ounce, down nearly $180 from the recent peak.
Converted at the bank exchange rate, each tael of world gold is currently equivalent to more than 105.4 million VND/tael (including taxes and fees).
Thus, the difference between world gold price and SJC gold price is still high, more than 14.1 million VND.
