Domestic gold price 'far exceeds' world price

Saigon Jewelry Company listed the price of SJC gold bars at 118.5 - 120.5 million VND/tael for buying and selling, an increase of 1.3 million VND/tael compared to yesterday morning.

Other gold trading businesses also adjusted the price of SJC gold bars up to 120.5 million VND/tael.

The price of gold rings also increased along with gold bars. Accordingly, the highest price of gold rings was listed by Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited at 116 - 119 million VND/tael, an increase of 1 million VND/tael compared to yesterday morning.

Phu Quy Gold and Gemstone Group listed the price of gold rings at 114 - 117 million VND/tael. Mi Hong Gold System listed the price of gold rings at 113.5 - 115 million VND/tael.

The price of gold rings is 2 - 5 million VND/tael lower than SJC gold bars, depending on the brand.

Gold prices turned sharply higher as the world gold price reached 3,254 USD/ounce, up 15 USD compared to early this morning. The world gold price is equivalent to 102.5 million VND/tael. Accordingly, the domestic gold bar price is nearly 18 million VND/tael higher than the world price, while the difference in the price of plain gold rings fluctuates 13-16 million VND/tael depending on the brand.

In the currency market, this morning the State Bank listed the central exchange rate at 24,973 VND/USD, a sharp increase of 22 VND compared to yesterday morning.

At Vietcombank , the listed USD price is 25,750 - 26,140 VND/USD, down 10 VND in both directions compared to yesterday morning.

BIDV Bank listed 25,780 - 26,140 VND/USD, 10 VND lower than the previous session in both directions. Techcombank reduced 5 VND in buying price and kept the selling price unchanged at 25,694 - 26,221 VND/USD.

On the free market, the USD price increased to 26,380 - 26,500 VND/USD, up 25 VND compared to yesterday morning.
