National Press Awards 2025: First time awarding for multimedia and creative journalism

On June 16, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a press conference to inform about the 2025 National Journalism Festival and the 19th National Press Awards ceremony. A notable highlight this year is that for the first time, the awards will be presented to two new categories: multimedia journalism and creative journalism.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's National Press Awards received 1,913 valid entries. Through two preliminary and final rounds, the Awards Council selected 128 outstanding entries, including 13 A prizes, 27 B prizes, 49 C prizes and 39 consolation prizes.

Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi said that the works in the two new categories are carefully invested in, applying modern technology, and are multi-platform, but still ensuring content standards. This addition reflects the transformation of journalism in the digital age and is a driving force to encourage creativity in the profession.

The 2025 National Press Festival will take place from June 19 to 21 at the National Convention Center ( Hanoi ), with the theme: "Vietnamese Press - Loyal, creative, courageous, innovative for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland". The event has the participation of more than 80 central and local press agencies, with nearly 130 exhibition booths.

Many units bring products integrating technology such as AI, 3D models, virtual reality... In particular, the thematic exhibition space "100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press" hosted by the Vietnam Press Museum will be a highlight of the development journey and contributions of Vietnamese press through the ages.

In addition to the exhibition, the Press Festival also organized many seminars and discussions on hot issues of interest to the press, such as: Vietnamese Press - Vision in the new era; Women's voices in news; Developing young user groups; AI and newsroom strategies; Data journalism in Vietnamese newsrooms; What strategies does television have to retain readers; How does radio compete in a society developing with Podcasts; Personalizing content to keep readers loyal...

Ms. Le My Ai Linh, Acting Director of the Center for Journalism Culture, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the National Journalism Festival 2025, said: “This year’s press festival is not only a place to honor journalism but also a space for creativity, connecting technology and traditional values. The spirit of innovation, courage and social responsibility of journalism are clearly demonstrated in each exhibition booth and each professional activity.”
