Responding to the launch of the Trade Union of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam ( BIDV ), over the past 5 years, BIDV Son La has organized the BIDV - Warm Tet for the poor run. This is a volunteer sports program, attracting a large number of officers, employees, customers and people to participate, joining hands with BIDV to bring a warm Tet closer to poor families and those in difficult circumstances.

BIDV Son La launches Run - Warm Tet for the poor in 2023.

In 2019, the first running competition “BIDV - Warm Tet for the poor” was launched. Up to now, the program has become an annual activity. Immediately after the launching ceremony, athletes register to participate online via the Strava sports software application or log in on the website platform https://run.bidv/com.vn. Running results are calculated when athletes open the Strava sports software application while running. The total running results of athletes are accumulated throughout the program.

All running achievements are converted into money by BIDV to give gifts to the poor on the occasion of the New Year. With running achievements from 1 km to 100 km, they are converted to 1,000 VND/km; from 101 km to 200 km, they are converted to 2,000 VND/km and from 200 km and up, each km is calculated as 3,000 VND. In addition, athletes have the opportunity to receive many attractive prizes and sports gifts according to the program's rules.

Mr. Nguyen The Dung, Director of BIDV Son La, said: Participating in the race, not only had the participation of 100% of BIDV Son La's staff and employees, but also attracted a large number of staff, workers, employees, union members and youth in the province to participate. In the 5 years since its launch, nearly 1,000 athletes have run nearly 130,000 km, contributing more than 540 million to the social security program for the poor during the Lunar New Year. In the period of 2019-2024, BIDV Son La has given and will give more than 2,000 Tet gifts to the poor, with a total value of over 1 billion VND.

Athlete Nguyen Thi Lam, BIDV Son La participated in the BIDV Run - Warm Tet for the Poor 2023 in Hanoi.

For 5 years, without missing any running program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam, an officer of BIDV Son La, confided: Participating in the running program launched by BIDV, in the past 5 years, I have achieved a record of running 1,420 km, converting to a contribution of over 6 million VND to support the poor. The running tournament is organized online, so I can participate anywhere and at any free time. Running activities not only help me exercise to improve my health, but also do volunteer work for the community, which is very practical, meaningful, and timely to encourage and motivate the poor and people in difficult circumstances.

BIDV Son La officers and employees participate in the BIDV Run - Warm Tet for the poor in 2023.

Coming from Son La Power Company, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thong, shared: I am over 50 years old, knowing that BIDV organizes the race, I participate because the purpose is both to exercise and contribute to creating a fund to help the poor. I hope that in the following years, BIDV will continue to maintain the race, so that I can encourage more people to participate in running, improve their health, and help the poor in a small way.

Leaders of BIDV and Yen Chau district presented Tet gifts and charity houses to poor households in Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district.

Along with the contribution from the race, BIDV also allocated the "Social Security" Fund from business profits and BIDV officers and employees to support and organize many charity programs for community life. From 2019 to present, BIDV Son La has organized visits and given gifts to poor households and policy families in remote, isolated and border areas; sponsored teaching equipment and supported the repair of classrooms and desks for disadvantaged schools; supported the construction of charity houses for poor households and policy families; supported goods and SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test kits; sponsored computers and cash to support localities in the province in disease prevention... with a total amount of nearly 9 billion VND.

The BIDV charity sports program - "Warm Tet for the poor" has a deep humanitarian imprint. The program has connected BIDV with customers and partners, promoting the development of the health training movement and spreading the spirit of joining hands for the community through each running step, contributing to the good implementation of social security work, encouraging the poor to rise up in life.
