Director of Hanoi National University appointed Honorary President of Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials

Director of Hanoi National University Le Quan had a working session with expert Nguyen Bich Yen to discuss and consult on the strategy for developing semiconductor technology human resources at Hanoi National University in the coming years.

Ms. Nguyen Bich Yen is one of the world's leading experts in the field of semiconductor technology with over 40 years of extensive experience in researching, developing and commercializing integrated circuit technology and advanced materials.

She had an excellent working history at Motorola Corporation and then at Soitec - a world-class technology corporation specializing in developing new generation semiconductor materials.

With over 200 patents granted globally and over 350 published scientific research papers, Ms. Bich Yen is not only an outstanding scientist but also a pioneer in developing advanced SOI (Silicon on Insulator) technologies, making important contributions to the fields of 5G, AIoT and smart automobile industry. Her initiatives and technologies have generated billions of dollars in revenue for the world's leading technology corporations.

In addition, she has been honored with many prestigious international awards such as Dan Noble Fellow - Motorola's highest technical award, IEEE Fellow and most recently the 2024 IEEE Frederik Philips Award - for outstanding contributions in research, development and application of semiconductor technology.

The invitation of Ms. Nguyen Bich Yen to be the Honorary President of the Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials by Hanoi National University not only helps to create progress in the Institute's academics and research but is also an important strategic step of Hanoi National University to realize Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and the Strategy for developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry to 2030 and vision to 2050 of the Government.
